Cruise Accommodations- Voyage Types are open-loop cruises and closed- loop cruises. Open loop cruises start in one US port and end in a different US port, or travel outside of the Western Hemisphere. For example, Carnival's 16-day Panama Canal itinerary from Seattle is not considered closed-loop. Some cruise itineraries include foreign ports that require a passport for disembarkation. Closed-loop cruises: Begin and end in the same US port. Closed-loop cruises usually repeat the same itinerary, giving passengers more flexibility on when they want to cruise. For example, a closed-loop Caribbean cruise may require a passport for disembarkation.
Cruises-Types of Staterooms-A stateroom, also known as a cabin or cruise room, is a private living space on a cruise ship. Staterooms typically have one or more beds, a closet, storage space, a bathroom, and a desk or vanity. Typical staterooms options on most cruises are interior, ocean-view, balcony, suites and some offer family rooms. Balcony cabins can provide personal space. Suites can be good for stretching out and relaxing. and some cruise lines offer specialty rooms. Some examples of specialty rooms are family rooms, therapeutic rooms and more. When choosing a room location on a cruise ship, you can consider things like:Location: Lower decks are the most stable part of the ship and have less motion. Forward rooms are close to the fitness center, spa, and show lounges. Upper decks are close to entertainment, outdoor deck areas, and fun. Mid-ship rooms are close to the pool and water-slide areas.
Cruise internet plans- Be advised cruise ships rely on satellite internet, which can be unreliable or unavailable when the ship is far from shore. Most cruise lines' internet options include:a Premium package: Which normally starts at $30 per device, per day or more and allows streaming music and making video calls. Basic packages which normally cost approximately $13 to $18 per device per day and allows for social media posting and checking email.
Cruise drink packages-Nearly all the major mass-market cruise lines offer flat-fee drink packages. Cruise ship drink packages allow you to order as many drinks as you want while on a cruise for one flat fee. This takes the place of paying for drinks one at a time. There are normally several tiers of drink packages. Basic tiers often include just sodas and bottled water. More elaborate (and expensive) tiers will add alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails, wine, beer and specialty coffee drinks. Typically, cruise-lines have a rule that if one adult in a cabin orders a drink package, all adults in the cabin must order the package. This is to prevent two or more people in a cabin from sharing a single drink package. All major cruise lines will let you buy drinks on an "a la carte basis" when cruising. You don't need a drink package to be able to drink alcoholic beverages or any other type of beverage on a ship. Note: Coffee (does NOT include specialty coffees), unsweetened tea, select juices, and non-bottled water are normally included in your cruise fare.
